Accelerating Development on the Path to Agricultural Autonomy

October 18, 2022

Farmers are looking to do more with less available resources. With the pressure to produce more to sustain a growing world population, farming today is driven by efficiency. Rising input costs and labor constraints in today’s market cause technology to play a critical role in saving resources and maximizing every minute in the field.

Policies, Regulations and Deadlines…. Oh My!

October 14, 2019

As an equipment dealer, we are by no means an expert on agriculture programs, supports, regulations or even what agency offers what program at what time of the year.  But as a partner to our customers, we want to see our customers be successful.  We want to understand the wins and losses, the opportunities and challenges, the ups and downs they face so we can better serve them.  We couldn’t help but notice the increased buzz this year about programs and supports.  New programs, changing programs and long-standing programs seem to provide tremendous opportunities for some and tremendous challenges for others.  Navigating what seems like a never-ending stream of changes to programs and deadlines, on top of managing your operation, can be tough for any producer or grower.  While we’d like to at least acknowledge and appreciate the attempt to support our farmers and growers, we can’t also help but wonder if the processes and steps to enrolling into and actually reaping the benefits of the programs couldn’t somehow be made easier.

Partner Spotlight: El-Na Farms LLC

November 9, 2018

The story of El-Na Farms began in 1850 when the Fenendael family immigrated from Belgium to Quebec in search of a warmer climate. Then in 1858 they moved to Algoma, Wisconsin, where the family continues to farm today. Eli & Nancy Fenendael formed the farm prefix “El-Na Farms” in 1967 using “El” from Eli and the “Na” from Nancy. The farm became an LLC in 2000, when Eli and Nancy sold the farm to their 3 sons; Shane, Barry, and Lonnie, making them the 6th generation on the farm.

Earlier this summer, we had the opportunity to chat with the Pankratz brothers, Jon and Matt, as well as their grandpa Lawrence, and learn more about the unique history of their family farm, Pankratz Farms in Marshfield. We visited the family in their shop while prepping for chopping season, which, in our opinion, is the best place to get information for a good article if we do say so ourselves!

Bag to Bin Crop Tour 2018

June 21, 2018

Agronomic test plots are nothing new. I’m sure most of you get invited out to a field day at your seed dealer’s test plot each year to learn more about the variances, advances, and options available in seed varieties. Or maybe the local coop has invited you to their field plot, where they compare various brands head-to-head while analyzing fertilizer placements and options. Many of you have probably planted your own trial plots to test out theories or questions of your own. With so many opportunities already available to compare and learn about planting variations and applications, why would an equipment dealer want to plant a field plot themselves?

Cultivating Our Next Crop of Leaders

June 21, 2018

Swiderski Equipment is proud to support our FFA students in various ways throughout the year, but we especially enjoy the WI FFA State Convention Career Expo each year! The Career Expo provides students a chance to learn more about career opportunities in agriculture and often plants the seed for students to understand there are a wide variety of jobs in a company like Swiderski Equipment. While we have continuous needs for skilled employees in roles like service technician, parts specialist or sales consultant, students don’t often think of a company like ours for careers in fields such as marketing, IT, human resources, office administration, and management. But the opportunities are truly endless for those with the right attitude and work ethic.

A Guide to Sidedressing: Delayed Nitrogen Application and Yield Improvement

March 5, 2018

Improve your growing season by applying nitrogen to your crops when and where it matters most. When you add
sidedressing to your operation, your crops will have enough nitrogen to optimize your yield and profitability.  Most nitrogen is used by the crop during its initial growth, as sidedressing enables maximum growth and yield by replacing nitrogen lost during that initial crop growth period. However, there are some instances that encourage nitrogen application after the corn has already emerged.

Futuristic Farming

March 5, 2018

With eyes in the sky and boots on the ground, farmers have more data than ever with which to make decisions. The low hum of a drone buzzing in the air. Fixed-wing aircraft gliding over the clouds. Satellites orbiting Earth. The future, as laid out in a sci-fi novel, is now. And agriculture, with its ever-increasing need to manage crops as efficiently as possible, embraces this powerful technology for what it is—another tool in the toolbox.

Fuel Requirements for Today’s Diesel Engines

October 27, 2017

Over the last 15+ years, government mandated emission control standards have forced manufacturers of diesel engines to adopt multiple tiers of control.  Tier 4 emissions standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have reduced the levels of particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) to a level that is 50-96% lower today than that of diesel engines manufactured just 5 years ago.  To meet the current Tier 4 emissions requirements, manufactures have developed advanced technology that requires more precise maintenance and more specific fluid inputs. These requirements are not specific to any manufacturer, but general to anything using a new diesel engine.
