About Swiderski Equipment Inc. in Wisconsin
Founded in 1925 by a man who saw a need in his local farming community, Swiderski Equipment Inc. continues to meet the needs of our customers with a diverse offering of agriculture, construction, and consumer equipment and products. Our 5 stores combine to operate one of the most valued networks of agriculture and construction sales, parts, and service departments in Wisconsin. By the late 1930s, Swiderski Implement was proudly selling New Holland and Minneapolis Moline tractors and implements. Swiderski Implement then opened a location in downtown Mosinee on the corner of Hwy. 153 & Hwy. B.
Wartime recovery provided a boost to equipment technology in the 1940s. Two and four-row corn planters became a popular purchase for local farmers.
In addition to selling ag equipment, the company briefly expanded to selling Kaiser-Frazer cars. In 1948, the first building at the current Mosinee location (820 Old Hwy 51, Mosinee) was built and the business moved to the edge of town.
Several of the Swiderski sons were now involved in the family business which expanded to two dealership locations; one in Mosinee and one in Bonduel. The oldest son, Stan, also owned a twine factory, making Swiderski Implement one of the first major distributors of Stan’s Twine.
In 1959, the youngest son, Alex, joined the family business and later became the sole proprietor at the Mosinee location in 1964.
By 1960, every farmer was providing food for an average of 25.8 people and the industry turned a corner with a renewed emphasis on rural development from the federal government.
Through the rest of the decade, Swiderski Implement continued to carry New Holland and Minneapolis Moline and expanded the inventory to include New Idea, Oliver, and Allis Chalmers equipment.
The Swiderski name was also well-known in the cattle business during these years, as Alex bought and sold quality cattle throughout the area.
Swiderski Implement added on to the Mosinee location in 1970 and slowly moved away from the cattle business to focus on the implement dealership.
Farmers continued to improve efficiencies and increase production, and by 1980 each farmer in the US was feeding almost 76 people per farmer.
Swiderski Equipment was able to expand in the late 80s, with the acquisition of Marathon Implement, just north of Wausau, in 1987.
The Farm Financial Crisis hit in the ‘80s and the Midwest experienced one of the worst droughts in history through 1988 and ‘89, creating a challenging environment for agriculture.
Swiderski Equipment saw significant expansion in the mid-90s with the addition of locations in Thorp (1992), Antigo (1995), and Waupaca (1997).
The business also broke into the construction market, with the addition of New Holland construction equipment in early 2000.
With our ever-increasing global population, the demand for farmers to be more efficient is immense. It’s estimated that every U.S. farmer today produces enough food for 155 people.

Our History
To completely understand where we started and where we’re headed, it’s best to take a look back at the past several decades. Our company has a rich history and so does the agricultural industry, which makes our team today proud to serve you!1925
There were 6,454,000 farms in the United States with farmers making up 27% of the labor force. The Swiderski family opened a horse dealing business on their Mosinee homestead, training and selling work horses to farmers in the area.1930 to 1950
While the Great Depression of the early 1930s drove down farm prices and profits to an all-time low, the agriculture industry adjusted and found new ways to be more efficient. Rubber tires became popular in the mid-30s and the Swiderski family transitioned their business to meet the needs of local customers by upgrading steel-wheeled tractors with new rubber tires.By the late 1930s, Swiderski Implement was proudly selling New Holland and Minneapolis Moline tractors and implements. The ‘50s were a challenging time for agriculture as a recession hit late in the decade. Yet by 1954, the number of tractors on farms exceeded the number of horses and mules across the U.S.Several of the Swiderski sons were now involved in the family business which expanded to two dealership locations; one in Mosinee and one in Bonduel. 1970 to 1980
No-till agriculture practices became popular in the ‘70s and the renewed focus on agriculture from the ‘60s boosted the number of students taking agriculture classes in the U.S., with a high of 853,000 students by 1980.Swiderski Implement added on to the Mosinee location in 1970 and slowly moved away from the cattle business to focus on the implement dealership.
Farmers continued to improve efficiencies and increase production, and by 1980 each farmer in the US was feeding almost 76 people per farmer.

Into the 2000s
Information technology and precision techniques started to gain popularity in the ‘90s and biotechnology practices improved production for operations. Farmers were now supporting 100 people per farm, with an increasing human population.Swiderski Equipment saw significant expansion in the mid-90s with the addition of locations in Thorp (1992), Antigo (1995), and Waupaca (1997).
The business also broke into the construction market, with the addition of New Holland construction equipment in early 2000.
